Audio Description
The Rep offers Audio Description for any non-preview performance of the Mainstage or Studio Theatre series.
Two weeks notice is required to provide this service.
The description includes program notes as well as information on the visual elements of the production.
Audio Description is received through iPod Shuffles with headsets which are available at Patron Services. The tracks are programmed to be listened to prior to the performance and during intermission.
To reserve tickets and description devices, please call the Box Office at (314) 968-4925. (Please reserve tickets at least two weeks prior to the desired performance to insure availability of Audio Description.)
In 1998, The Rep pioneered Live Audio Description services for St. Louis audiences. Beginning in 2007, The Rep expanded its Audio Description service to all three performance venues and made it available for any non-preview performance.
By hearing program notes and information about the visual elements of a production — lighting, costumes, scenery and other aspects — blind and visually impaired audiences can now appreciate the full sensory experience of live theatre.
