Ambition Facing West
By Anthony Clarvoe
Directed by Melia Bensussen
1997-1998 Mainstage Season
The Story
Three generations of one family look West, from the coast of Croatia to the American prairies and finally to Japan, circling the globe in pursuit of the Land of Opportunity. In this bracing new play, Anthony Clarvoe—author of The Brothers Karamzov, The Living and other recent plays at The Rep—looks at the emotional odyssey of immigration, and the struggle between those who leave and those who are left behind.
