The Story
The classes and the sexes clash in Shaw’s moving and comic masterpiece of misdirection and seduction. On the eve of World War I in cultured, leisured Europe, Captain Shotover’s ship-shape English manor houses a collection of bohemian eccentrics for a weekend gathering planned by his optimistically romantic daughter. While bombs begin to rain down upon the garden, sparks fly among the guests, as they play out their petty deceptions and grand philosophies oblivious to the momentous changes on the horizon.
