POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Director is a senior management position, responsible for marketing, patron services and brand management. The Marketing Director works closely with the Managing Director, the Artistic Director and other senior staff. The Marketing Director plans and executes subscription, single ticket, and group marketing initiatives to achieve ticket sales goals for The Rep’s Mainstage and Studio seasons. They also are responsible for shaping public perception of The Rep through brand management and brand identity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and execute a comprehensive subscription marketing campaign, encompassing direct mail, advertising and telemarketing.
  • Develop season subscription campaign print materials for renewal and acquisition campaigns. Work with outside graphic artists to develop show logos and graphics to be used in brochures, ads and other print materials.
  • Plan and implement direct mail campaigns, including design of brochures and other collateral pieces, copy writing, printing, list acquisition, mailing services, and tracking results.
  • Analyze data to evaluate effectiveness of direct mail campaigns and to effectively target direct mail.
  • Plan and oversee telemarketing services provided by outside vendor.
  • Plan and execute single ticket marketing campaigns for each production in the season, including print and radio advertising, direct mail, email marketing and online media.
  • Lead weekly revenue pacing meetings to ensure maximum revenue generation for single ticket sales. Determine sales promotions, inventory management and demand-based pricing strategies.
  • Supervise and provide strategic support for media relations, social media strategies, website content, and group sales.
  • Work with Development department to provide marketing and media support for contributed revenue initiatives.
  • Develop plans to reach new audiences and non-traditional theatre audiences.
  • Engage in audience research projects as needed to analyze audience data and audience demographics.
  • Support other departments with marketing initiatives, brand management and print materials.
  • Ensure patron satisfaction with the theatre experience. Resolve patron problems which are not satisfactorily addressed by frontline personnel.
  • Maintain all signage and display areas in the lobby and outside the theatre.
  • Represent The Rep at outside meetings and seek out cross-promotion opportunities with other arts and cultural organizations.
  • Develop Marketing budget and control spending against approved budgets.
  • Supervise the Marketing staff and all outside marketing contractors.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, arts administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years marketing experience in the performing arts. Experience in a management position is preferred.
  • Experience working with ticketing/CRM software. Please specify in cover letter which ticketing/CRM software systems you have worked with.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communications and customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.

ENVIRONMENT: This position requires the ability to work seated and standing for several hours at a time. Some filing is required. The work environment is an air-conditioned, smoke-free, office environment. This position routinely uses standardoffice equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This position may require local, day travel. Working hours are generally during the day time, but will vary depending on company needs.
