MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET concludes The Rep’s 50th Season with a bang
Friday | Mar. 3, 2017
Get ready for a performance that goes up to 11: The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents Million Dollar Quartet, book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux, with original concept and direction by Mutrux, directed by Hunter Foster.
This electric celebration of four rock ‘n’ roll legends runs March 15 – April 9 on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts.
When Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins kick off an impromptu jam session at Sun Studios, the air crackles with star power. Get up close and personal with these larger-than-life personalities in an experience that will rock your socks off! This powerhouse musical features chart-topping hits from all four performers.
The production coincides with the debut of the CMT television series Sun Records, which is based on the history of the label that brought all four stars together.
Bringing these rock heroes to life are Ari McKay Wilford (Elvis), Sky Seals (Cash), Dominique Scott (Lewis) and John Michael Presney (Perkins). They’re joined by James Ludwig (as the trailblazing rock producer Sam Phillips), Ryah Nixon (as Elvis’ then-girlfriend Dyanne) and musicians Eric Scott Anthony (bass) and Zach Cossman (drums).
Foster, who originated the role of Sam Phillips on Broadway, directs his fifth production of Million Dollar Quartet. His creative team includes scenic designer Adam Koch, costume designer Lauren T. Roark (Satchel Paige and the Kansas City Swing, 2016), lighting designer Kirk Bookman (One Man, Two Guvnors, 2014) and sound designer Bart Fasbender. Tony Dearing will stage manage the production.
Curtain times are Tuesdays at 7 pm; Wednesdays-Fridays at 8 pm; selected Wednesday matinees at 1:30 pm; Saturday matinees at 4 pm; selected Saturday nights at 8 pm; Sunday matinees at 2 pm; and selected Sunday evenings at 7 pm.
