For all of its snappy banter, Born Yesterday's most famous scene unfolds in a mostly unspoken battle of wits.
Early on in this classic comedy, the domineering Harry Brock sits down for a game of gin rummy with his girlfriend, Billie Dawn. Up until this point, the play has presented Billie Dawn as a stereotypically dimwitted blonde. But over the course of the gin game, the audience gets its first glimpse at the cunning and wit that will soon blossom as Billie comes into her own.
The two actors who perform this standoff, Ruth Pferdehirt and Andy Prosky, sat down to speak with us about how their characters approach the game. We also got clips of them in action during rehearsal! Check it out below:
