If Akron Lanier Watson was going to play boxing champion Jay "The Sport" Jackson in The Rep's production of The Royale, he'd have to learn a few boxing basics first.
So Watson and co-star Bernard Gilbert started logging some serious time at The Boxing Gym, a popular training spot in the Central West End.
We dropped in on one of these practice sessions to watch as Watson, Gilbert and instructor David Ingamells worked on some boxing fundamentals. Watch below for video of those sessions, as well as Watson's thoughts on the process and his character. The show opens this Friday, March 10!
