An evocative memoir of the love between two families—one black, one white—sharing a South African home. First seen through the eyes of a six-year-old girl trying to make sense of the chaos and magic of her new world, this one-woman play follows the families through four generations from early apartheid to present day free South Africa.
Production Note: The Syringa Tree was a co-production with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. The production was subsequently re-mounted at the English Theatre in Vienna, Austria, with Shannon Koob in the role of Elizabeth, where it ran January 27–March 6, 2004.
